How nCino Employees Gave Back and Stayed “nVolved” in 2022
December 20, 2022

At nCino, one of our core values is “do the right thing,” and one way we live that value is by volunteering in our communities. To support and encourage this, every employee receives two paid days off annually to volunteer with causes that are important to them, either on their own, with their teams, or through nVolve, nCino’s community service and volunteer organization. The result? An opportunity to create positive change and make a difference in our communities around the world.

Here’s a look back at just some of the ways nCino employees used their time to give back to their communities in 2022.

Bankers’ Hours IPA

While enjoying an after-work beer at Wilmington Brewing Company back in 2019, an employee had an idea: what would happen if nCino collaborated with the brewery to create a beer for everyone to enjoy after working long (bankers’) hours? nCino employees were already accustomed to weekly Friday afternoon “happy hours” at our Wilmington Headquarters, where they could end the work week by socializing with coworkers. nCino collaborating with a local brewery was a perfect fit for our company culture.

The excitement grew quickly, and teams from every department voted on the style and name of this special brew. In the spirit of working hard and playing hard, nCino employees also voted on a charity to partner with through donations from each beer sold. We landed on Nourish NC, and we’re proud to have raised $1,600 for the nonprofit to fight hunger in New Hanover County.

Nourish NC

In addition to raising money for Nourish NC through Bankers’ Hours IPA sales, we also partnered with the local nonprofit in other ways this year. Our teams volunteered to make “snack packs” for kids in after-school care and “breakfast bundles” for students who rely on their school for breakfast and need breakfast over the weekend. As a company, we participated in multiple food drives to raise money and collect items that the nonprofit could use to fill their resources.

Charity Football Tournament

Employees from our London office participated in a charity football tournament in August benefitting Football for Peace, a UK based nonprofit that aims to drive social and environmental change through football. This event allowed employees to connect and network with other local companies and raised funds for the charity.

UK Food Bank

Over the past year, the cost of living has increased throughout the UK, leaving some families struggling to afford essentials. nCino’s London office has been working with Trussell Trust, who runs the largest network of food banks in the UK, to donate food items through collection bins in the office. Way to do the right thing, London team!

Weybridge Care Home

Over the summer, our London employees spent time at Weybridge Care Home, a residential senior care facility located outside of London. The team completed upkeep tasks in the garden, like painting and weeding, taught chair aerobics and played games with the residents. Before leaving, employees threw a tea party and sang songs for the residents, leaving them each with a bouquet of flowers, as well.

Paws 4 People

Paws 4 People is a nonprofit whose purpose is training dogs as various types of help companions. Paws 4 People’s assistance dogs are trained to help their owner with whatever struggle they may face, whether that be a physical, neurological, psychiatric or emotional disability. This year, nCino has continued our partnership with the nonprofit. Our employees and their teams supported the Wilmington office with facility care and routine upkeep, being sure to get in some puppy cuddles at the end of their volunteer time! We also sponsored a service dog in training through Paws 4 People’s paws4prisons training program, which serves as an inmate rehabilitation program. Our training pup, whom our employees named Admiral, has already mastered lots of commands and his inmate trainer says he’s doing great!

New Hanover Community Garden

The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Community Garden grows seasonal produce year-round to benefit the community. Employees who volunteered at the community garden helped with a wide range of tasks including weeding, preparing the soil for planting, harvesting and watering garden beds. The garden provides fresh produce for events like the Wilmington Novant Health Farmer’s Market and educational opportunities that teach healthy cooking practices and how to use local produce at home.

nCino ExtraLife for Kids: Game On!

nCino hosted our sixth annual ExtraLife for Kids, a 24-hour gaming marathon held at nCino HQ in Wilmington. Players participated in videogame and table-top tournaments featuring games like Mario Kart and Dungeons & Dragons while enjoying food and trivia. We had tons of fun and raised almost $9,000 for Maynard Children’s Hospital with Children’s Miracle Network!

Charity Golf Tournament

At our sixth annual charity golf tournament, employees had a blast playing golf, volunteering on the course and spending time together. This event benefitted the Wilmington Foster Pantry, whose mission is to make the transition of children entering foster care easier by providing resources for both families and their children. In addition to the funds raised at the event, employees also participated in a back-to-school drive for the Foster Pantry. Employees gathered school supplies, backpacks, lunch boxes, personal hygiene products and more for local foster families.

PTS Awareness Field Day

The Veterans Network, one of nCino’s affinity groups, hosted a PTS Awareness Field Day where employees participated in 11 fun, buddy-style activities that represented the challenges associated with PTSD. We were joined by Paws 4 People, whose service dogs and trainers cheered on the competitors! A total of $180 was donated to NAMI, $450 to the PTSD Foundation of America and $40 to Paws 4 People.

Giving at nSight 2022

At nSight, our annual user conference, over 1,400 employees, customers and stakeholders had the opportunity to participate in three community initiatives that benefitted the city of Raleigh, which graciously hosted nSight this year.

Here’s what we accomplished during this three-day event:

  • Raised $2,206 for A Place at the Table, Raleigh, NC’s first pay-what-you-can café. One in seven residents experience food insecurity, and the café aims to reinvent the way that the Raleigh community is fed
  • Donated over 500 books to Book Harvest NC, which provides an abundance of books and ongoing literacy support to families and their children
  • Provided 49 video monitors to Triangle Family Services to support their mission of providing solutions for families facing crisis

Beach Sweeps

During the summer, employees and their families and friends in Wilmington meet at Wrightsville Beach every Thursday morning to sweep the beach collecting litter. Once the weather gets colder, employees bundle up to make sure the beach is still taken care of in the off season once a month.

Our Big Kitchen

Our APAC team volunteered with Our Big Kitchen, a nonprofit that supports the millions of people in Australia who experience food insecurity. The nonprofit is based in Sydney, where it has a commercial kitchen that distributes 120,000 home cooked meals annually to families in need. The APAC team recently assisted Our Big Kitchen (pro bono) with its implementation of a Salesforce org with payment and donations integration and event management processes. The team also participated in a cooking class where they learned about what the nonprofit does, enjoyed food they cooked in the nCino kitchen and learned new cooking skills from a professional chef.

Picture Books

Our team in Japan volunteered their time preparing picture books for children in developing countries. They added stickers in different languages to make their favorite stories accessible and enjoyable for those who received them.

Onigiri Action

Our employees in the Japan office and Wilmington HQ celebrated World Food Day with onigiri! At HQ, the AAPI Alliance prepared homemade onigiri for employees to enjoy in the Bitty & Beau’s Café and encouraged everyone to take photos. For every photo posted on social media from this event, Table for Two provides five school meals to children in need.
