# Inspiring the Next Generation: The nCino Innovation Lab

See how nCino's first community investment in Utah is helping Provo teens build STEM skills at the Boys & Girls Club.

Investing in the communities where our people live and work has long been a pillar of nCino's mission. This year, we extended that commitment to Utah, home to our second-largest employee base, through our first community investment in the state.

Together with the [Boys & Girls Club of Utah County](https://bgcutah.org/), we opened the **nCino Innovation Lab** in Provo. We watched it come to life this past year — here’s what’s happened since then.

## Why an Innovation Lab?

The nCino Innovation Lab is a dedicated space inside the Club’s new 20,000-square-foot facility where young people can build practical STEM skills and discover new interests. Designed for teens ages 12 to 18, it provides hands-on access to tools and technology like 3D printers, cameras, and laptops.

Then he found the cameras in the Innovation Lab. He started working with them and getting involved with projects. Over time, his attitude changed and a growing interest in photography took hold. Now, he chooses to stay even when he doesn’t have to, frequently asking Morgan what they’ll be shooting next.

“Seeing [students] switch from ‘I have to be here’ to ‘I get to be here,’ and then seeing all the opportunities open up, is the most rewarding thing,” she said.

While students don’t need to walk in knowing what they want to do, Morgan recalled one young girl who had a clear idea. “One of our students loves sharks, and she wants to go and be a shark biologist.”

The young girl, as part of the 3D printing club at the lab, used a computer program to design and create her own shark keychain that now goes wherever she goes.

Students at the lab can learn and discover new interests, but they also have the space to bring their own passions and ideas to life. The Club plans to expand enrollment and add new programming this fall, opening the space to more students. Beyond the Lab itself, LifeShop, a newer Club initiative, gives teens hands-on classes across a range of interests, several of which — from 3D printing to AI literacy and website building — tie directly into the technology available in the Innovation Lab.

## Growing Alongside Our Utah Community

Our presence in Utah has grown over the years, so it was a natural place to deepen our community involvement. With so many employees living nearby in Utah, this investment was especially close to home.

“Having grown up in Utah, I’ve seen firsthand how investing in people strengthens communities and creates opportunity,” said Casey Williams, General Manager of nCino Mortgage and a Utah native. “Utah’s technology ecosystem is thriving, and that growth starts with our youth.”

Our growth as a company in Utah has been powered by the people who call it home. This Lab gives us an opportunity to invest back into that community, making the world of tech more accessible to the young people shaping the state’s future.

## Beyond the Lab: Ongoing Community Involvement

The Innovation Lab reflects our philanthropic mission, and it creates new opportunities for our employees to build connections with the Club and the young people it serves. Those connections are already growing.

This summer, our employees volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club of Utah County to help prepare for the back-to-school season, organizing and assembling school-supply packs for local students.

Morgan sees plenty of ways for our continued involvement, from career presentations and site visits to regular volunteering and ongoing mentorship.

She’s already watched how introducing young people to new kinds of work can shape what they imagine for themselves. The Club runs career days for a variety of professions, and after each one, Morgan says she almost always has at least one student tell her, “That’s what I want to do.”

She explained that sometimes kids don’t know careers like the ones at nCino exist, or that they could picture themselves in that kind of work, until someone shows them.

“We just love having people here,” she shared. "We love the kids getting to see the community members and that people outside of their little circle care about them and their success.”

## What’s Next for the Innovation Lab

The Boys & Girls Club of Utah County is focused on growing enrollment and building out even more programming, giving more young people the chance to use the space.

While the Innovation Lab is still new, there’s still a lot ahead. We can’t wait to see what the students discover in the space and how our Utah employees continue to be a part of it.
